O ‘Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards’, ou Eisner Awards para os íntimos, foi criado em 1987 (substituindo o Jack Kirby Awards) e é considerado o “Oscar” dos quadrinhos norte-americanos. O nome da premiação foi escolhido como uma forma de homenagear Will Eisner, um dos quadrinistas mais importantes do mundo, autor de diversas graphic novels e criador do Spirit.
Assim como seu primo de Hollywood, os indicados e vencedores são escolhidos por profissionais da área (escritores, artistas, editores e lojistas). A cerimônia de entrega acontece todos os anos durante a San Diego Comic-Con e o próprio Eisner compareceu a todas elas até 2005, ano em que ele faleceu.
Ontem foi divulgada a lista completa com os indicados deste ano e dessa vez três artistas brasileiros estão concorrendo: Gabriel Bá, Fábio Moon e Rafael Albuquerque. Os vencedores serão anunciados dia 22 de julho na San Diego Comic-Con.
