O ‘Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards’, ou Eisner Awards para os íntimos, foi criado em 1987 (substituindo o Jack Kirby Awards) e é considerado o “Oscar” dos quadrinhos norte-americanos. O nome da premiação foi escolhido como uma forma de homenagear Will Eisner, um dos quadrinistas mais importantes do mundo, autor de diversas graphic novels e criador do Spirit.
Assim como seu primo de Hollywood, os indicados e vencedores são escolhidos por profissionais da área (escritores, artistas, editores e lojistas). A cerimônia de entrega acontece todos os anos durante a San Diego Comic-Con e o próprio Eisner compareceu a todas elas até 2005, ano em que ele faleceu.
Ontem foi divulgada a lista completa com os indicados deste ano e dessa vez três artistas brasileiros estão concorrendo: Gabriel Bá, Fábio Moon e Rafael Albuquerque. Os vencedores serão anunciados dia 22 de julho na San Diego Comic-Con.

Depois que a Universal desistiu de levar adiante a ambiciosa adaptação dos livros da série A Torre Negra, de Stephen King, o projeto de Ron Howard, Akiva Goldsman e Brian Gazer se encaminhava para o fundo da gaveta.
Anunciado em 2010, a ambiciosa adaptação da série de livros A Torre Negra de Stephen King quase foi engavetada quando a Universal e a rede NBC desistiram do projeto por causa do alto investimento necessário para a trilogia de filmes intercalada por duas minisséries para a TV.
A equipe de produção da série de TV de A Torre Negra ganhou um importante reforço, o roteirista Mark Verheiden. No seu currículo estão as séries 
As negociações já duram um mês por causa da complexidade do projeto, mas Javier Bardem (Onde os Fracos Não Tem Vez) está bem perto de interpretar o pistoleiro Roland Deschain na mega produção A Torre Negra, adaptação dos livros de Stephen King.
A Dança da Morte (The Stand), livro escrito por Stephen King (lançado originalmente em 1978), virará filme graças a uma parceria da CBS e da Warner Bros.
A disputa para o papel de Roland Deschain, o pistoleiro da série de livros (e quadrinhos) A Torre Negra, de Stephen King, ganhou mais um candidato: Christian Bale. Antes os principais concorrentes eram Javier Bardem e Viggo Mortensen. Segundo o jornal New York Post o favorito do diretor e produtor Ron Howard seria Bale, mas o site Deadline ainda diz que o nome mais forte é o de Barden.
No ano passado a Universal anunciou um dos projetos mais ambiciosos dos últimos anos: transformar a série de livros de Stephen King, A Torre Negra, em um trilogia de filmes interligada por duas séries de TV. O projeto ficou a cargo do roteirista Akiva Goldsman e do diretor Ron Howard (a mesma dupla de Uma Mente Brilhante e O Código DaVinci).
